The structurally reinforced suspended slab main level floors were poured yesterday (October 31), marking a major milestone for the Westmark team as construction continues on Phase 3 of Pacific Station, North Nanaimo’s premier office location. Building B features 8 units ranging between 1,876 and 2,209 sqft, with flexible unit configuration possible to accommodate business needs of up to approx 16,00o sqft.

For those interested in some of the construction details for Building B, here is a brief summary:

Foundations: Steel reinforced poured concrete footings, column footing, and perimeter bearing walls.

Floor Structure: Grade level to be reinforced, poured concrete slab. Main level are cast-in-place, structurally reinforced suspended slab. Second storey floors are concrete topping over plywood sub-floors over wood joists, insulated to cavity, with fire rated gypsum board to the underside.

Ceilings: Open roof truss system; sprinkler system and HVAC duct work exposed

Interior Construction: Demising walls and interior structural walls within the buildings are painted gypsum board cover over wood stud frame; insulated to cavity.
